TECOM INDUSTRIES WINS CONTRACT
FROM SYRACUSE RESEARCH CORP

Three TECOM tracking systems to be built for prototype phase of missile program.

Thousand Oaks, CA—June 4, 2003. TECOM Industries, Inc., a TRAK Communications company, announced today it has been awarded a major contract by Syracuse Research Corporation to develop and produce three unattended transportable tracking systems to support the Multi-Static Receiver program at White Sands Missile Range in White Sands, NM.

Operating in conjunction with various radio frequency (RF) waveforms generated from the fleet of radar systems at White Sands Missile Range, the TECOM tracking systems will support the prototype phase of the Multi-Static Receiver program. Delivery of the three initial tracking systems is planned for November 2003.

Each of the TECOM tracking systems contains a lightweight elevation over azimuth pedestal, 1.82-meter parabolic reflector, linearly polarized C-band feed, antenna control electronics, and trailer assembly. The control electronics incorporate a unique Ethernet management system that facilitates unattended operations at the remote antenna location.

"The Multi-Static Receiver trailerized program is a good fit for TECOM's current line of tactical and transportable system products," said Elissa Seidenglanz, director of business development at TECOM. "The antenna system comprises assemblies that have undergone extensive generational product improvement over the past few years--a factor greatly contributing to our recent success on this, and other key commercial and U.S. Government programs."

The complete tracking system, including customer-furnished equipment, is mounted to a roadworthy 16-foot trailer that is C-130 transportable. The trailer provides the necessary antenna-mounting platform for precision tracking operations and functions as the transport vehicle to remote locations over unimproved roads.

"TECOM was awarded this contract because we provided a best value system to Syracuse Research that combined performance and transportability, with an upgrade path for future operational enhancements," said Ralph Phillips, president of TECOM Industries.

The tracking systems are based on a modular design incorporating standard TECOM families of field-proven components. Future system upgrades will likely include wideband RF electronics for frequency range extension, larger parabolic reflectors for increased system gain, and closed-loop tracking electronics.

TECOM's current line of mobile and transportable antenna systems serves diverse markets including Range Telemetry, Remote Sensing, Signal Intelligence, Tactical Un-Manned Air Vehicle, and Two-Way Military Satellite Communications.
