November 7, 2008 (Thousand Oaks, CA) --- TECOM Industries, Inc., a Smiths Interconnect business, today announces the appointment of Arsen Melconian as President. Mr. Melconian succeeds Ralph L. Philips who was recently appointed president of Smiths Interconnect.
Mr. Melconian has served as TECOM’s vice president of engineering and chief technology officer since March 2004. He joined the company in January 2002 as director of engineering with responsibility for design, modeling, simulation, testing, and new product development. Under his guidance TECOM’s engineering department has more than doubled in size and several key commercial, military and satellite communications R&D programs have advanced from concepts to production.

Prior to joining TECOM, Arsen was employed with Litton Integrated Systems Division where he was responsible for the development of communication and navigation systems for the FAA, United States DoD and foreign governments. Mr. Melconian received the Samuel Sternbach Technical Excellence Award in 2000 and the Litton Advanced Technology Achievement Award in 2001.
Mr. Melconian holds a BSEE from California State University Northridge. He lives with his wife and two children in Northridge, CA.
