Oaks, CA—November 25, 2003, TECOM
Industries, Inc., a TRAK Communications
company, today announced that it has won
a multi-year contract for Phase 1 prototype
development and LRIP delivery of airborne
antennas for a military program. Under the
terms of the contract, the first follow-on
lot of production units will commence in
2004 and subsequent out-year orders for
production lots are planned that could result
in a total contract value over $10M.
Under the multi-year contract, TECOM
will apply its broadband airborne antenna
technology and RF electronics expertise
to develop the active antenna. All components
delivered for the program are ruggedized
legacy assemblies specifically tailored
to operate in a demanding military airborne
environment. Performing both transmit
and receive functions in the 16 - 18 GHz
frequency range, the antenna operates
in conjunction with various electronics
equipment aboard military airborne platforms.
Each of the antennas contains a small,
lightweight cylindrical cavity feed, conical
radome, integral RF assembly consisting
of a High Power Amplifier (HPA) and transmit/receive
switch, and power supply module. Additionally,
the antenna incorporates digital Built-in
Test (BIT) for key component real-time
monitoring, and fault isolation.
